Shut Down Line 5! “Water is Life”
Video Story: My wife and I attended the Line 5 protest this year with members and elders representing many of our local tribes and activists from all over the Great Lakes region. “Water is Life” was the theme and in Congress, I’ll fight every day to keep all of our lakes great!
It's time to shut down line 5!

All of us in Southwest Michigan are rightfully proud of the abundant water in our lakes, rivers, and streams. But from the threat to Lake Michigan posed by the looming Asian Carp invasion and the deteriorating Line 5 pipeline, to the E coli and other contamination of our watershed areas emanating from decaying septic systems and closed manufacturing sites, the integrity and cleanliness of our waters is in real danger.
At a minimum, we need to support full funding of Debbie Stabenow’s Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, including funding for watershed management. But we also need effective legislation which actively supports the adoption of renewable, clean energy technologies and the use of that energy for manufacturing, agriculture, and tourism in environmentally sustainable ways.
